I think that we should keep it as a fun event that brings our youth group together. Unless there is something amazing that comes up then we should go to that.. I am kind of indiferent on that issue I do think that we should have a few just for fun things throughout the year.
Fun is good!! I am thinking about maybe trying like a ski retreat weekend in the next couple years and then doing a "fun" deal during the summer. Kinda rotating the winter/summer as fun/serious.

Have you thought about a trip to Hidden Valley in St. Louis? We go every year and you can ski and snowboard all night long. It's a lot of pain and a lot of fun.
