Re: LifeHouse:Youth

I like the idea of doin more stuff as a youth group..  Take it beyond gettin together on Sunday night, or sittin as a group in "Big Church."

I don't know if anyone is old enough to remember when we did SHS, students helpin salem..  We took a week in the summer and simply helped Salem..  We went door to door, takin prayer requests..  We spent whole days cleanin up yards, houses, paintin, and what not..

Why does these actions have to be spurred by an event?  Why can't we take our family, our goup and help out our community?  I understand a lot of you all work and a lot of time is taken up with today's things..  But what if we got with pastor or someone who had a pulse on some of the things needed around Salem..  Even if it's not the whole youth group, maybe 4 or 5 or 6 of yall get together and help a lady get all the leaves out of her yard..  Who says we have to only minister to our peers and in our natural settin?  1 Timothy 4:12 calls for you to not worry about your age, but your walk.  Maybe what this community needs is a bunch of youth steppin out and sayin that they care..

This is just me talkin and throwin out ideas..  This isn't gonna be worth anythin if you don't feel God leadin you or a true passion for helpin out..  This isn't gonna be somethin to speak of if it's an event me or Jered or Pho or Jen or someone puts on, and you all are there because it's what you're suppose to do..  If you like it, speak up, throw in your ideas, take a lead.  If not, we'll leave it be..

Re: LifeHouse:Youth

i remember Will.. i was just telling Jered about that and how much i liked doing it. i think we should be doing some of the same things.
tell me when and where and i will be there to help as much as i can.
but next time you ask me if i am afraid of heights, i am going to say yes.
i didn't know i was going to be on a shaky old porch, covered in wood stainer.

just say the word...kirristen

Re: LifeHouse:Youth

Yeah I dont remember at all..... But I love the idea... I think that its about time that we restore the idea of teenagers, young people in this community.. I know lots of older poeple who think that teenagers are nothing but trouble makers. It all goes back to PEOPLE DONT CARE HOW MUCH YOU KNOW TILL THEY KNOW HOW MUCH YOU CARE... The majority of people think that teenagers are uncaring unresponsible hoodlems... Im not stupid and I know that they have good reasons to feel that way but We dont have to be the same as every other teen in dent county and we shouldn't be... WE should be reaching out thats what Jesus is all about. Thats what our church is all about... WE have the reaching in and reaching up... Its time to take what we get from reaching up and spread it OUT!! I love this idea!! I love helping people, Its a way that we get to express the love of Jesus Christ without saying anything and I think thats awesome. Im not sure how to get the whole thing started but I will be thinking and its going to happen!! Soon....
